Life in Citrus County – The Best Life Can Get/All There is to Do

Where else can you get away from it all, but also live next to everything?

Saturday we went to a Civil War re-enactment and ate strawberry shortcake with President Lincoln, we visited a few local museums and galleries, then attended opening night of The Miracle Worker at our community theater. Sunday morning we swam with manatees, and participated in the 10th Annual American Lung Association Clean Air Bike Ride on the Withlacoochee Trail – the longest paved railroad trail in Florida that National Geographic recently ranked its “Top 10 Trails in the US.” It was opening day of Little League at Bicentennial Park. We ate soft shell crab on the waterfront and ended the day watching another perfect sunset on our little public beach.

Next weekend we will need to stop at Home Depot to pick up some things for the “Honey Do” list around the house, but will try to squeeze in a round of golf or a doubles tennis match with friends at the club. Then in the evening we’ll make the quick drive down to Tampa to see Jerry Seinfeld perform at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

Or sometimes simply spending the day on the water on your boat and hearing the wind blow through palm trees, or riding bikes with the kids enjoying nature, is a perfect day – we have a lot of perfect days in Citrus County!

About Tampa

Local farmers sell their “just picked” fare at markets, from green tomatoes, kumquats, oranges, and many folks from outside Florida don’t know our state is big on strawberries!
