Our Hospital – Advanced Facilities Set to Grow With Our Community

Compassion.  That may be the best word to describe a community hospital.  Patients are also our neighbors.  If you could hear us speak to each other during a normal work day, you will hear things like “your boy is sick in ICU,” and “when will Karen be released?”  The “extended family concept” of how we accept our patients is what we are about at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center.  Would you like to be a part of this culture?

Seven Rivers RMC is a 128-bed hospital and part of Health Management Associates (NYSE: HMA), a corporation that specializes in community hospitals.  One of the corporate philosophies is to upgrade the quality of healthcare delivery and simultaneously expand medical services of its hospitals so that community residents no longer need to commute to major urban centers for specialty medical care, except in rare cases.

We are JCAHO-accredited, and among our accolades are our Top 10% rank in the Nation for Joint Replacement (HealthGrades 2005-2006), and we participate in all three of the American Heart Association “Get With the Guidelines” programs - coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke.

Our Administrative team welcomes you to our hospital

A smile from our employees is genuine, and we’re looking for new co-workers with the same attitude as we grow with our community.  As you think about your next career move, we hope our commitment to health and patient care resonates to the core reason you entered this noble profession.  We appreciate your considering us!

Administration:

“I heard about Seven Rivers RMC from an acquaintance.  I came over to see if there were any openings. As soon as I walked into the HR department, I was greeted as if I was a member of the family. I was offered the position of Charge Nurse for ICU and the wages were more competitive than what I was making at (my previous employer). I have been here since and this is my family.

The weather is great, and unlike other Florida towns, we do not have the hurricane problems that other counties have had. This is primarily due to the geographic location of our community in the ‘Big Bend.’”
- Cynthia Heitzman, CNO

“The airport and the enticements of a large city present themselves through Tampa, FL and Orlando, FL. These two large metropolitan areas are within the reach for those who like big cities but do not want to live in them.”  - Dima Didenko, CFO

Selected Department Directors:

Unlike many small communities, you will be surprised how many of us come from all over the country.  Like our neighbors, we were attracted to our amazing balance of life with nature and friendly people.  Our directors hail from New York, the Midwest, to California.  We promise that no matter where you are from, you will be welcomed here!

“Spend 15 minutes just watching staff interact in any other hospital, then come here. Our staff will help each other when ambulances arrive with new patients, communicate with the families and enjoy what they do. Or better yet, ask the people who work on our local EMS units.”  - Lynne West, ER

“The person before you generally holds the door for you when you are entering somewhere. Manners are not completely lost here.  I had worked in a larger hospital in NYC. Most of the staff didn’t know staff in other departments or who physicians were.  I once went to the grocery store with a niece visiting from NYC and she was amazed at how many people said 'Hello' to me….”

- Jane Byron, Ambulatory Services

“I would tell someone considering working in my department and living in this area that it would be the best thing you could do for yourself and your family. Coming from a big hospital up north, I was not used to having the hospital CEO, CNO, CFO all knowing you by your first name, unless of course you were in trouble. The friendly, down to earth attitude carries over from the CEO down to the volunteers.” - Liz Huxley, Women’s Services

Staff Members:

“…We get letters and cards from patients and families on a consistent basis, as well as cookies, candy and
other treats.  Administration gave us a cake on Valentine’s Day.”
- Donna Austin, ICU RN

“I am engaged and a physician recently came up to me and wished me good luck after seeing me and my fiancé in a jewelry store.  Our department has a mix of ethnic and educational backgrounds…everyone treats each other with respect and kindness.  If you are considering Seven Rivers RMC, you couldn’t pick a better hospital.  When not working, there is no better place to enjoy life.”

- Bryan LaBuda, Pharmacy Tech

“By working in a community hospital there are many more opportunities to advance in educational growth and career advancement.  People are recognized sooner by their accomplishments and dedication.  I would tell someone considering working at Seven Rivers RMC that the people who make up this hospital are some of the finest.  They are not only co-workers, but truly my friends.” - Greg Bare, RN

Our administration is guiding us to continued modernization and improvement, from filmless imaging in 2006, acquiring new technology to test for osteoporosis, and treatment like new stereotactic breast biopsies, to streamlining and improvement of services, which reduced the time patients spend in the ER to under 2 hours when the national average is over 3 hours (2007).
